Smooth Skin & Absolute Comfort: The Golden Rules of Waxing Aftercare
We have all been there: you leave your waxing appointment feeling incredibly smooth, clean, and confident, only for pesky little bumps or ingrown hairs to show up a few days later.
At BeautyBar SGV, our licensed specialists use premium, ultra-gentle formulas and precise techniques to ensure your waxing service is as comfortable as possible. However, what you do in the 48 hours after you leave our private esthetics room plays a massive role in keeping your skin flawless.
To maintain that silky, smooth finish between your visits, follow these non-negotiable golden rules of waxing aftercare.
Rule 1: Let Your Skin Breathe (First 24 to 48 Hours)
Right after a wax, your hair follicles are completely open and vulnerable to bacteria and irritation. For the first two days, avoid anything that induces heavy sweating or friction. This means skipping intense workouts, hot tubs, steam rooms, saunas, and swimming pools. Opt for loose-fitting, breathable cotton clothing to prevent friction against the freshly waxed area.
Rule 2: Hands Off!
It can be tempting to touch your newly smooth skin, but your hands carry invisible bacteria that can easily slip into open pores, causing tiny red bumps or breakouts. Keep the area clean and untouched.
Rule 3: Hold the Exfoliation (At First)
Do not scrub your skin immediately after waxing. Give your skin a full 3 days to completely calm down. Once that window passes, gentle exfoliation becomes your best friend. Use a mild exfoliating scrub or a gentle buffing cloth two to three times a week. This removes dead skin cells that block the follicle path, forcing new hairs to grow straight out instead of curling inward to become painful ingrowns.
Rule 4: Hydrate Correctly
Keep the area transitioned with clean, soothing products. Avoid heavily fragranced lotions or thick body oils immediately after your appointment, as these can clog vulnerable pores. Look for gentle, calming ingredients like aloe vera or tea tree oil.
By treating your skin with a little extra mindfulness post-wax, you will extend the life of your smooth results and keep your skin blissfully happy until it is time to see us again!
